The 19th Asian Games in Hangzhou took place from September 23 to October 8. As one of the co-host cities, Wenzhou hosted all the dragon boat competitions and some group matches and knockout matches of the football event. Two teachers from School of General Education, He Shuaishuai and Wei Bo, were invited to join the Wenzhou Sports Center’s Asian Games football operations team, where they enthusiastically engaged in service work in the core competition department.

“When I learned about my position, I felt quite nervous because technical officials play a vital role. They are crucial for the smooth conduct of the competition,” said Wei Bo. He was fortunate to be recommended as the technical official service supervisor of the competition comprehensive affairs department in March this year. He was responsible for the competition service work of the technical officials for the Asian Games football event in the Wenzhou competition area. Technical officials include officials from the Asian Football Confederation, match supervisors, match coordinators, referee supervisors, and all referees. He attended training sessions in Hangzhou several times, gradually gaining a clear understanding of his duties. Combining monthly test matches, he rehearsed every aspect of his work repeatedly, providing high-quality competition services to all technical officials on behalf of Zhejiang and China.

Currently, more than half of the matches have been played, and the women’s football group matches held at the Wenzhou Sports Center Stadium have proceeded smoothly. Wei Bo stated that he could feel the satisfaction of these technical officials towards his work by serving the officials appointed by the Asian Football Confederation and top referees from various Asian countries. As a teacher from WZBC, being able to participate as a staff member in the Asian Games, he felt extremely honored. He would do his best to fulfill his duties, showcasing the image of WZBC and the spirit of excellence to the world.

He Shuaishuai served as the team service supervisor in the competition comprehensive affairs department, mainly responsible for the services and support for athletes and accompanying team officials. His specific tasks included managing the service team, coordinating communication between the Asian Games Village and transportation sectors, facilitating communication between the sports teams and relevant areas, and solving other related issues for the sports teams. He mentioned that team service work involved the most direct contact with athletes from participating countries. Therefore, the sports center organized numerous large-scale test matches and several drills. He continuously summarized his service work experience, focused on details, made comprehensive plans, and ensured the smooth progress of the event. At the same time, he displayed the charm of China and the warmth of Wenzhou with the most sincere working attitude to athletes from participating countries.

Since March of this year, the two teachers have balanced their teaching duties at WZBC while dedicating their leisure time and weekends to the Asian Games service work. Starting from June, they have been working full-time at the sports center. Although the work is hectic, as sports enthusiasts, they felt incredibly proud to represent WZBC in such a large-scale event. In the upcoming tasks, they will continue to be high-spirited, provide optimal services, present the best image, and strive to ensure that every aspect of the event shines brightly, and every detail is perfected. Their high-quality service will undoubtedly add luster to the Asian Games.
