The Wenzhou Federation of Social Science Circles held the seventh congress on the morning of March 9. The research team headed by Professor Wang Zhanao, Dean of the School of Finance and Business of WZBC, won the first prize of the applied countermeasures research category of the The 18th Wenzhou Philosophy and Social Science Excellent Achievement Award with the monograph Research on Enhancing Wenzhou Industrial Competitiveness in the Context of “the Belt and Road”. (by Wang Zhanao & Xie Jian, etc.) Liu Xiaotao, Member of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee and Secretary of the Wenzhou Municipal Party Committee, personally presented the award.

The research mainly focused on three aspects: the current situation of industrial “going global” development in Wenzhou, the impact of the “the Belt and Road” initiative on the improvement of Wenzhou’s industrial competitiveness, and the problems and countermeasures for the improvement of Wenzhou’s industrial competitiveness. It enriched the theoretical basis for local research on the construction of the “the Belt and Road” in China, and offered certain theoretical reference value for scholars to carry out similar researches and the government to make relevant decisions. At the same time, the research results would make a practical difference on how Wenzhou, with the advantages of private economic development, better seize the opportunity of the “the Belt and Road” construction to accelerate industrial transformation and upgrading, improve industrial competitiveness, and promote local economic and social development. This monograph was the research result of the team of Wenzhou “the Belt and Road” Research Center and was published by the Economic Science Press in October 2020.

The Belt and Road Research Center in Wenzhou was established in May 2022, which was jointly built by the Municipal Advisory Committee for Policy Decision, the Municipal Bureau of Commerce and Wenzhou Business College. Formerly the research center was called as the Belt and Road Wenzhou Entrepreneurs Research Center established in 2017. In 2018, it was selected as Wenzhou Key Research Base of Social Sciences, focusing on the consultation and research work of Wenzhou’s participation in the construction of the “the Belt and Road”.
